Þjórsárver is a wetland located in the central Icelandic highlands near the river Þjórsá. This area is well-known for its incredible bird life. In fact, Þjórsárver was designated a protected RAMSAR site in 1990. What’s more, it is the world’s largest breeding ground for pink-footed geese.
