Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano is 1666m tall. What’s more, its icecap actually covers an active volcano. The latest eruption of Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano was in 2010. Flights across Europe were cancelled en masse as the volcano’s ash blew towards the continent. Guests at Hotel Rangá are able to take a guided tour of the glacier. You can experience the glacier either via Super Jeep or on snowmobiles. The glacier’s summit has fantastic views of Iceland’s south coast and is fabulous day trip from Hotel Rangá.
