At Hotel Rangá, we are proud to offer our guests the opportunity to purchase a truly authentic Icelandic lopapeysa — a handcrafted wool sweater.
While many lopapeysa sweaters sold in tourist shops today are manufactured abroad, we are committed to preserving authenticity and supporting local artisans. Our sweaters are made in Iceland, using traditional patterns and techniques passed down through generations.
This particular design holds a special connection to Hotel Rangá. It’s based on the original pattern used by the mother of owner Friðrik Pálsson, who grew up on a farm in North Iceland. Rooted in heritage, these sweaters are as genuinely Icelandic as they come — warm, timeless, and made with care.
Guests are invited to choose their own color combination, and we will connect the order with a local knitter who creates each sweater by hand. Along with your lopapeysa, you’ll receive a card with information about the artisan who crafted it — a personal story woven into every stitch.
More than a souvenir, this is a piece of Iceland you can take home — made just for you.
