Þríhyrningur Hike

A hike up mount Þríhyrningur is a beloved tradition for locals around the Hella and Hvolsvöllur area. This trail is less well-known than others in the area, so you might even have the mountain to yourselves. In total, the hike takes about 2.5 -3 hours and covers about 8 km (5 miles). The path is uphill with an elevation gain of approximately 691 m (2267 ft). At the top of the mountain, you can see excellent views of the south coast. On a clear day, you will even see the Westman Islands in the distance.  This private hike is led by an expert guide who will show you the way and share stories about the area. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes and bring lots of layers. A good raincoat is always suggested–Icelandic weather is notorious for changing at a moment’s notice. We also recommend that you bring water and some snacks.
