Beginner riders will love this easy 1-2 hour tour in the Icelandic countryside. Ride through beautiful meadows filled with interesting birdlife. The tracks are easy for the horses and riders alike, so you can spend your time enjoying the lovely views of mountains, volcanoes and glaciers.
This tour also gives riders the chance to look around the stables at Skeiðvellir. Your expert guide can answer any questions you might have about the Icelandic horse. This special breed has been isolated for centuries, giving it a unique character. Learn about the five different gaits that Icelandic horses can perform–you might even be able to try them out yourself.
Note: Pick up is not included with this tour. It takes approximately 20 minutes to drive from Hotel Rangá to the meeting point. Pick up can be added for an additional fee. The minimum age for this tour is 10 years. Furthermore, the maximum weight is 110 kg (242 lbs).

The minimum age for horseback riding tours is 10 years old. However, younger children are able to go on stable tours. There is also the possibility that younger children can ride a horse with the assistance of a trainer – contact the Hotel Rangá reception to learn more.
There is a minimum of 2 persons for all horseback riding tours.

No you do not have to be an experienced rider, however if you are it is good to know in advance and you might get a perkier horse.
The Icelandic horses are smaller than the average horse, yet they are very strong and have no problem carrying adult riders.
Yes, but you might get wet due to rainy conditions. If you choose to bring your camera, we strongly suggest that you put it in a good waterproof bag.
The weather in Iceland can change rapidly. In fact, we can say that Iceland’s extreme weather is a part of the adventure. But with your safety in mind we reserve the right to cancel this tour due to very bad weather conditions.
The horses still enjoy their rides during these conditions, and we think you will too! However, if there are very extreme winds or snowstorms, the tour could be cancelled or rescheduled.
If you wish to cancel the tour, you must do so at least 48 hours prior to the tour’s departure.
