Black Beach Horseback Riding Tour
The tour starts at the farm, from there you will head towards the ocean. Along the way, there will be several river crossings and fields before reaching the beautiful Black Beach and the vast Atlantic Ocean. If fortunate, there might be a curious seal popping its head up to greet you!
Occasionally it is not possible to cross the small lake in front of the beach. Equivalent alternatives will then be offered. This tour is best suited for those with some level of horseback riding experience. It is a wonderful way to get to know the Icelandic horse and try out all of its gaits alongside a helpful guide.
Note: Pick up is not included with this tour. It takes approximately 30 minutes to drive from Hotel Rangá to the meeting point. Pick up can be added for an additional cost. The minimum age for this tour is 8 years.

What To Bring
- Icelandic weather can be quite unpredictable, so it’s a good idea to dress warmly.
- We recommend wearing a good sweater, ideally wool, and having good rain gear on hand if needed.
- A windproof and waterproof jacket is essential, along with gloves and a warm scarf. Comfortable trousers are best, preferably soft and flexible.
- We provide safety stirrups, so any type of shoe is acceptable, though warm and waterproof options are preferred.

We love children and enjoy showing them the wonders of horses. We adjust the riding experience based on the child’s age. Children as young as 3 can enjoy a guided walk around the farm, while those around 4 years old can join a little ride.
There is a minimum of 1 person.
It’s important that everyone understands how to interact and handle a horse. Before our tours, especially on our beginner tours, we have a short introduction where we go over the main details. This helps ensure a pleasant experience for both you and the horse.

The Icelandic horses are smaller than the average horse, yet they are very strong and have no problem carrying adult riders.
Yes, but you might get wet due to rainy conditions. If you choose to bring your camera, we strongly suggest that you put it in a good waterproof bag.
The weather in Iceland can change rapidly. In fact, we can say that Iceland’s extreme weather is a part of the adventure. But with your safety in mind we reserve the right to cancel this tour due to very bad weather conditions.
The horses still enjoy their rides during these conditions, and we think you will too! However, if there are very extreme winds or snowstorms, the tour could be cancelled or rescheduled.
